They are urging States Members to reject his idea of appointing a People’s Advocate in the States.

But the Senator claims that a significant number of Members have no faith in the neutrality of Attorney General William Bailhache and accuses him of ‘political illiteracy’.

The Senator claims that Mr Bailhache and Solicitor General Stephanie Nicolle are biased towards committees and against back-benchers and are routinely making political speeches in the House rather than giving independent legal advice.

They have done so after being formally asked to comment by the States.

They rebut claims that they make political speeches and say they ‘consider the proposition should be rejected for its intrinsic absence of merit’.
