They beat Convent B, but not without a battle, the constant gusts of wind making even the simplest manoeuvres difficult and caused some players to lose possession of the ball.
The first quarter saw some highly-motivated defence marking from the Saints with Sara Bisson and Sharon West picking up on Convent errors.
Captain Shelby Wright had a superb game and with skilful passing to her shooter, Kelly Liddell, the first quarter ended 12-6 in their favour.
Convent used their squad and although the attack trio stayed the same throughout the match the rest of the team had a re-shuffle, Georgia Hickey as GK using her height and great reading of the game to counter-attack, so by half time just four goals separated the teams.
St Clement continued to play their game and kept the ball flowing to the attacking third.
Convent repeatedly tried to chip away at the black and red armour and despite the accurate shooting from Convent’s Sharon Olliver, they were unable to regain their momentum and trailed 38-21 at the final whistle.

In the match on the adjoining court, Academicals A, making their debut in Division I, received a baptism of fire from opponents St Lawrence A, crashing out 53-19.
Accies found the shock of the tremendously fast pace difficult to handle and took a few minutes to adjust.
Centre Carla Plater, more often seen on the hockey pitch, had a cracking game and linked well with GD Jenny Acton-Phillips, who will be sorely missed when she heads off to university later this month.
St Lawrence, not only looking impressive on court with their play but also sporting smart new kit, pulled together as a team despite having four substitutes, one player injured and two on holiday.
Goal shooter Tracy Cripps netted shots with ease, ably backed by Nicky Billison, while the acrobatics of Nikki Jubb in defence, interwoven with centre Rena Nelson, proved to be a winning format for the Saints.
