A CHARITY calendar with a difference has been produced for 2026 featuring 13 tastefully naked gentlemen, all poultry keepers, along with their birds, writes COLLETTE BISSON.
Although the majority are from the UK, Jersey is represented by December’s photograph of Ollie Woodall in a granite farmhouse setting with a Thuringen bantam and some of his call ducks.
Islanders may also recognise Tom Newbould, a former local resident and poultry judge, who is pictured with his barred Plymouth rock bantams.
Others featured are American TikToker Scott Perry; aviculturist Roger Cattermole; Australian poultry judge Dylan Herbert; “Love your Weekend” regular Tom Davis; Carmine Brandi; Dai Davies; Simon Patel; Mark Rubery; David Vicente and James Patterson.
Retailing at £15 per calendar (plus postage), with sponsorship and support by Animals First, Fancy Fowl Magazine and Fast Finish Ltd. Every pound raised from the calendar will be split evenly between Prostate Cancer UK and the Samaritans.
Inspired by the famous “calendar girls” initiative, the “Feathered and Fearless” calendar was the idea of Ollie and his friend, Jed Dwight, who get together on air once a month for their “Bird Boys” podcast which includes news, views, interviews and answers to listeners’ questions on all things poultry related.
Jed, a panel A poultry judge and the editor of Fancy Fowl magazine, recently travelled to the Island to judge at the 170th anniversary show of the Jersey Poultry and Ornithological Society.
This also gave an opportunity to take a front cover picture of the two “bird boys” for the calendar at the holding where Ollie keeps his chickens, turkeys and waterfowl.
Jed said: “We are absolutely delighted to have created this calendar – it’s been great fun to pull together and we are so excited to share it with people while also raising money for two really worthy charities.
“In particular I am pleased we are able to support the work of the Samaritans – a cause that is close to my family and I having lost my brother, Daniel, to suicide just over 10 years ago.”
Ollie added: “The women of the poultry fancy did a similar calendar back in 2012, and I’ve wanted to create a ‘gents’ version ever since. I’ve been so impressed by how keen so many have been either to get involved or to offer support. I know that our chosen charities mean a huge amount to all of us taking part, and I can’t wait to see how much money we can raise to support their crucial work.
