PROPERTY prices remained stable in Jersey during the third quarter of the year, newly-released data has shown.
Statistics Jersey issued the latest House Price Index for the period from July to September inclusive, showing that the average price of dwellings was essentially unchanged when compared to the corresponding quarter of 2025, as well as to the second quarter of 2026.
The lack of change meant that house prices stayed below the peak experienced in summer 2022, when the index was 13% higher.
A total of 270 property transactions were included in the latest report, 6% fewer than in the same quarter of 2025 and 4% fewer than in Q2 2026.
Other features from the quarterly bulletin showed that:
- First-time buyers accounted for 17% of property purchases, compared with 16% in Q2 2026; this remained below the 25% average recorded since the start of 2024.
- There was a net reduction of private rental properties, with 37 such properties being sold while 27 were purchased.
- Overall housing market activity, measured on a rolling four-quarter basis, was 2% lower than the previous quarter, but 8% higher than a year earlier.
- Advertised private sector rental prices were 1% higher than both the previous quarter and a year earlier.
