TWO Jersey residents are due to stand trial in France after allegedly being caught with 27kg of cannabis resin on a boat bound for the Island.
French newspaper La Manche Libre reported that maritime Gendarmerie officers arrested the pair, aged 39 and 43, as they left Port-Bail-sur-Mer for Jersey on Friday 2 October.
The cannabis resin allegedly found on board was valued at around €600,000. The pair’s identities have not been made public.
They face charges of acquiring, transporting, possessing and attempting to export cannabis resin between Saturday 26 September and Friday 2 October.
Following an initial court appearance in Cherbourg, they remain in custody there and are next due to appear on 30 November.
