A DEVOTED grandmother who has been a constant source of love, support and stability for her young granddaughter has been nominated for the Grandparent of the Year award.
Nominator Rachel Peltor said her mother, Jackie Peltor, was “so much more than just a grandparent” to her three-year-old granddaughter, Nayvi.
Ms Peltor said her mother had been “one of the biggest constants” in Nayvi’s life, always showing up with endless love, patience and support.
After Nayvi lost her dad when she was a baby, Ms Peltor said her mum had been there through everything, supporting her while ensuring Nayvi was surrounded by “love, security, laughter and the happiest memories.”
She said the bond between her mother and Nayvi was “incredibly special”, adding that Nayvi absolutely adored her.
Ms Peltor said her mother had been there for every stage of Nayvi’s life, from important milestones to the “ordinary little moment in between”, and believed her granddaughter would one day realise how lucky she was to have such a devoted Nannie.
Describing her as someone she could “always rely on, no matter what”, Ms Peltor said her mother gave so much to the family without ever expecting anything in return.
She added that watching the bond she had created with Nayvi meant more to her than she could put into words, particularly because of the love and stability her mother had brought into her daughter’s life.
Ms Peltor said her mother deserved the Grandparent of the Year award for “the way she gives herself to us selflessly.”
I’m nominating my mum because she is so much more than just a grandparent to Nayvi, aged 3. She has been one of the biggest constants in her little life, always showing up with endless love, patience and support.
After losing Nayvi’s dad when she was just a baby, our lives changed in ways we could never have imagined. My mum has been there through all of it, not only supporting me, but making sure Nayvi has always been surrounded by love, security, laughter and the happiest memories.
Their relationship is incredibly special. Nayvi absolutely adores her, and I know that as she grows up, she’ll realise just how lucky she is to have a Nannie who has been there for every stage, every milestone and every ordinary little moment in between.
She is the person I can always rely on, no matter what. She gives so much of herself to our family without ever expecting anything in return. Watching the bond she has created with Nayvi means more to me than I could ever properly put into words, especially knowing how much love and stability she has brought into her life.
She doesn’t just deserve Grandparent of the Year for everything she does, she deserves it for the way she gives herself to us selflessly.
