TWO Jersey care workers cycled the equivalent of a lap of the Island last weekend to raise money for Jersey Hospice Care.
Stuart Waddingham and a colleague clocked up an estimated 40 miles between them during a three-hour static-bike challenge at the Millennium Town Co-op on Saturday 22 August.
The fundraiser was organised by Christie’s Care, with members of its care and office teams taking turns on the bikes while encouraging shoppers to stop, chat and donate.
Registered manager Mr Waddingham said: “It was definitely harder work than we anticipated, but we had such a lovely response from people throughout the day.
“Lots of people stopped to speak to us, ask what we were doing and, most importantly, donate to Jersey Hospice Care.”
Money was collected at the supermarket, while an online fundraising page was also set up.
Christie’s Care provides visiting and live-in support to help Islanders remain in their own homes.
Mr Waddingham said: “As a local care provider, Jersey Hospice Care is an organisation that means a great deal to us at Christies Care.
“So being able to do something, even if it involved some very sore legs afterwards, to support the Hospice was incredibly worthwhile.”
