A WOMAN who has spent her life looking after hedgehogs has been nominated for Environmentalist of the Year.
Dru Burdon is described as someone who is a “real angel” even if she “has no wings” through her all her hard work at the Jersey Hedgehog Preservation group where she has saved many from illness and accidents.
Her nominator said: “Like many of Dru’s admirers, I am so pleased that she and her voluntary staff care about our declining population.
“Dru is an inspiration to many, and she is lucky that other people can see the needs of hedgehogs as well as the hard work which she puts in.
“Unfortunately many damaged hedgehogs do not survive the efforts of angel Dru and her followers. Dru deserves angel wings in her retirement, although I feel that she will be unable to give up her long and efficient ‘career’ if I may call it such.”
