AROUND 20% of all bus journeys last year were made using a concessionary pass for under-18s, a new report highlighting LibertyBus’s social impact has revealed.

The Social Impact Report draws on statistics from LibertyBus’s Customer Satisfaction Survey of more than 3,500 people, with the company stating that the figures demonstrate how it enables “people to live independently”.

A total of 204,000 concessionary journeys were made by those with disabilities using a concessionary bus pass. Among wheelchair users, 59% said it is “easy” to use the bus, while 38% said that taking the bus gave them improved mobility and 38% said that taking the bus gave them more confidence.

The report also highlighted its concessionary pass for under-18s, which amounted to 1.16 million journeys in 2025 – about 20% of total journeys.

Kevin Hart, LibertyBus director, said this shows that the bus network “reduces congestion” as parents are not driving their children, while also highlighting the ability for young people “to get out and about with freedom … the freedom to explore the Island when they want to, where they want to”.
