A FARMER has thanked two local businesses for their generosity and support following a difficult time after the recent hot weather led to the deaths of four young calves.

Zoe Marshall, of Clairval Farm, said that the acts of kindness came after the recent heatwave led to four calves getting sick.

Dough Jersey owner Ruby Price initially got in touch to offer support, before later arranging for fresh cookies to be delivered to the farm.

Additionally, MyDogify owner Ella Picot donated a number of cooling bandanas, which Ms Marshall had sought to buy from the pet store to help baby calves cope with the heat.

Ms Marshall took to social media to praise both businesses for their “kindness, generosity and support”, which she said had “completely blown us away”.

“There have definitely been a few tears, but happy ones, knowing we’re surrounded by such caring people and such an amazing community,” she wrote.

“Thank you both from the bottom of our hearts. We love you, and we’ll never forget your kindness.”

Speaking to the JEP, Ms Marshall said she had “so much faith in humanity” but had not expected the goodwill shown by both businesses.

“I drove home with tears rolling down my face,” she said, noting that the owners had acted solely for the purpose of “being kind”.
