A FORMER Le Rocquier student who has amassed over 38 million online followers has turned his attention to launching a scalp health product aimed at reducing hair loss.

Kristen Hanby – part prankster, part musician, part slapstick comedian – successfully transformed his struggling YouTube channel into a social media empire, and continues to grow his audience with a relentless stream of highly consumable short-form content.

But now the 33-year-old is starting from scratch all over again, this time, as an entrepreneur.

Earlier this week he officially launched ‘Loha’, a clinically proven hair treatment and daily care product.

Mr Hanby spoke passionately to the JEP about the benefits of taking “proper” care of your hair.

“Like most men out there, when I speak to my friends and stuff, they all say the same thing – they all say they just use whatever’s in the shower,” he said.

“There are magic ‘five and ones’ that are literally built for anything. You can wash your hair with it, you can wash your car with it.”

His product, though, aims to “find a solution” to his own problem sourcing long-term, sustainable and scientifically-backed hair treatment.

Kristen noted that the birth of his baby daughter helped him get through “a lot of sleepless nights” trying to “create the perfect formulation”.

“Prior to having my little daughter – which is the most amazing thing ever – I was sort floating about,” he said.

“I thought I was successful, I was going viral all the time, but in reality, I was actually a ticking time bomb.

“I was waiting for something to self-destruct eventually, but then obviously I had my baby three years ago.

“I had an epiphany where I was like, this is my purpose, actually having something that I’m proud of putting my time and effort into, something that’s actually going to help people.

“That was the eye-opener, actually, doing something and working at something I’m proud of, treating Loha like my baby.”
