A NEW chief executive has been appointed at Sanctuary Trust who has been with the homelessness charity for five years.
Sarah Tumelty began as a charity support worker before moving into assistant manager and general manager positions and now steps into the top role.
She will take on a “more strategic leadership role” as chief executive, the charity said.
Miss Tumelty will work alongside the board of trustees to continue to tackle homelessness within Jersey’s community.
In a statement announcing the promotion, Sanctuary Trust said: “Over the past three years, Sarah has built a strong and dedicated team, ensuring continuous support for 30 men in Sanctuary Trust’s residential facilities, alongside another 30+ men through the charity’s outreach programme.”
Sanctuary Trust chairman Tim Ringsdore said: “Her commitment and leadership have been instrumental in expanding the charity’s impact, despite growing economic challenges and the ongoing difficulty of securing suitable, affordable accommodation.
“Sarah has proven her ability to lead from the front and has tremendous respect from the team, our residents, and the wider charity community.
“I am confident that Sarah will help to develop our services further so we can ensure we continue to provide the best support possible to those who need it.
“We are all very proud of Sarah, the progress she has made, and the leadership she provides.”
