A joint recovery operation was carried out between the St Helier Lifeboat, coastguard, police and ambulance and at approximately 8.15 am the body of an adult female was brought ashore.
It has not been possible yet to confirm if it was the body of Islander Valerie Jehan, who was reported missing last week.
The Deputy Viscount has been consulted and a Home Office Pathologist will conduct a post mortem to assist with formal identification of the body.
Police family liaison officers are continuing to support Valerie’s family throughout this period.
