St Helier lifeboat volunteers launched 47 times, making it the busiest station in the Channel Islands.

The crew helped 81 people, spent 469 hours at sea and carried out 24 services in the dark. The St Catherine crew launched 19 times, assisted 21 people, spent 86 hours at sea and carried out nine services in the dark.

Nigel Jones, divisional operations manager for the RNLI, said the statistics highlight how hard volunteer lifeboat crews have worked over the past year.

‘The dedication that all our volunteers show is truly commendable and we thank them wholeheartedly for the selfless work they carry out, at any time of the day or night and in all weathers.’
