Since going live on Thursday, content from social media channels including Twitter and Instagram has been collected on experiencejerseyci.com every time visitors have used the hashtags #ExperienceJersey, #EscapeToJersey, #VisitJerseyCI and #JerseyCI.

Visit Jersey also intends to create a link between the comment on or review of the attraction, restaurant or hotel’s website to enable new visitors to find out more or book a similar experience.

Adam Caerlewy-Smith, head of marketing at Visit Jersey, said that the site was part of a new social media focus being developed by the company. ‘It’s a very exciting time for Visit Jersey and for visitors to Jersey’ he said. ‘Lots of people say some very positive things about Jersey and we have created a hub to collect all those comments. If, for example, you had a great time at a specific restaurant and you wanted to share that experience with other visitors, you will now be able to do so using one of our four hashtags.

‘We know that peer recommendation plays a hugely important part in the decision-making process for visitors today. It can often be more powerful than traditional advertising campaigns. By pulling together user-generated content in this way, we are providing a service for visitors as well as businesses.’
