Two, three and four-bedroom houses are all out of reach for an average working household, according to the Housing Affordability report released yesterday.

The report, by the States Statistics Unit, showed that one-bedroom flats were the only property type that had been consistently affordable to working households since 2002. Two-bedroom flats have also been affordable – bar the boom period of 2006 to 2008.

The Island’s house prices are similar to other areas on the outskirts of London – such as Hammersmith and Fulham – and places in southern rural England.
