The operation, involving the Channel Islands Air Search aircraft, the Guernsey lifeboat and the St John inshore rescue boat, was launched late on Saturday following reports that the man had fallen from a boat off the south-west corner of the island.

The search was called off at 4 am and a second search was launched around dawn and called off later in the morning. A third search began at about 1 pm but was called off in the evening after no body was found.
