The court heard yesterday that the 26-year-old admitted assaulting the driver after leaving a party with three female friends, including his girlfriend.
The assault took place in the early hours of 29 July, in Gloucester Road, when the defendant knelt on the seat and began to hit the driver, who suffered bruising and swelling to the upper eyelid and a cut nose.
The defendant was fined £300 and ordered to pay £350 in compensation.
