Environment Minister Rob Duhamel approved plans to build a 65-bed care home in St Peter along with five houses at the site, but the project is opposed by John and Angela Horrell, who live nearby.

Mr Horrell said that the plans, which were supported by planning officers, included green-zone land protected under the Island Plan. He added that not enough consultation had been carried out by the developers. ‘Maybe one or two houses would be acceptable, but not five,’ he said.
