And the man who runs La Place and La Haule Manor hotels says the improvement in business levels shows that visitors will come to Jersey if the product is right.

Dai Burton, who is the former coach of Jersey Rugby Club, operates the two hotels and says that they have been fairly full all season and that the rates charged have not been heavily discounted.

More than £12.5 million has been spent on buying and refurbishing the La Place and building 12 luxury self-catering cottages, and Mr Burton said that visitor numbers were up by about 25 per cent on last year. Between the hotel’s 42 rooms and the cottages, the site can cater for up to 150 guests.

La Haule Manor, which has 16 rooms and can accommodate up to 48 people, has also been ‘virtually full’ since it opened in April.
