Guernsey football and Jersey rugby both enjoyed spectacular years, with never-before attained heights reached, and they are represented in the main category, respectively, by goal-scorer Ross Allen and Jersey RFC forward Nick Trower.
They face extremely tough competition in the public vote, however, with the other three nominations being Jersey’s National and Commonwealth Games medal-winning badminton star Elizabeth Cann; rising tennis professional Heather Watson and fellow Sarnian Lee Merrien, an athletics star of real quality on road and track.
