Developers behind the six-storey J1 scheme in Broad Street expect to get the go-ahead from Planning next week. The move is likely to spark a race between the States-backed Jersey Development Company – which is responsible for overseeing the Esplanade business district – and private developers to secure banks and other finance firms, with the Royal Bank of Canada believed to be the main target. Mr McCarthy said that they were in competition with the new Waterfront scheme, but felt that they were ahead in the race.
