The former De La Salle teacher has been elected by the International Paralympic Committee, giving him overall leadership and responsibility of the programme for sitting volleyball at the games.
He said: ‘It’s a big honour as they could have appointed anyone from anywhere in the world. It makes all the hard work over the years worthwhile.’
