AS football fans look forward to Sunday’s European Championship final between Spain and Germany, Islanders will play the beautiful game tomorrow in a charity match in aid of the Zannah Trust and Headway.
From 10 am tomorrow the Jersey Wanderers pitch will be a flurry of entertainment with football matches, open-mic sets, a car-boot sale and barbecue.
The man behind the event, Scott Boydens (22), hopes to raise over £2,000 for his friend Zannnah Pemberton (22), who suffered a serious head injury after a roller-blading accident at Bonne Nuit Hill in September 2006.
Zannah has had a number of life-saving operations in Southampton and spent over a year at the Putney neurological specialist unit. She will be at the event as up to 200 people play football in teams of girls, boys and over-35s to raise money and increase public awareness of the condition.
