The 14-year-old Jersey Swimming Club member touched home third in the 50-metre freestyle in a personal best time of 29.42 seconds.
The race was won in 28.8 seconds.
JSC coach Keiron Bowbrick said: ‘We’re delighted, it was a very good swim and we knew it was going to be a close race as many of the girls’ times were similar.
‘Jacy is very happy and she is extremely proud of her performance.
It was a double for her too as her converted time for short-course is also a PB.’ Other highlights from the swimming this morning included a PB in the 100m breast-stroke for Iona Richardson while Brown placed fourth and Jemma Carter fifth in the 50m backstroke.
Jersey’s boys tennis team got off to a winning start last night as the ninth Jeux des Iles, an annual event that attracts islands from the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Atlantic and Indian Oceans, got under way – Jersey defeating Madeira 3-0.
Tennis development officer Hugh Raymond, who is doubling up as Chef d’Expedition of the Jersey team, said: ‘It was a fantastic start for the boys while the girls received a bye as Martinique have not turned up.
‘Everything is going fine despite two long days, yesterday we were on the go for 18 hours and only finished the tennis at 10.30 last night.
‘We are being well looked after, the accommodation is very good but there is a big distance between a couple of our sports – the swimming and sailing are on opposite sides of the island and there is 120 miles between them.’ In the tennis, James Connelly won 6-1, 6-0 while Rory Topping lost the first rubber 7-6 (7-2 on the tie-break) before recovering to take the final sets 6-2, 6-1.
Topping came through a difficult match by remaining focused to the end.
Jersey’s girls this morning lost their singles matches against Sicily; they play their doubles tonight.
Francesca Dubras was beaten 3-6, 6-3, 3-6 while Kate Gouyette lost 6-2, 6-0.
Dubras said: ‘The standard was good and it was a difficult match for me; I was very tired at the end.
Overall I was happy with my game and I’m now looking forward to the rest of the competition.’ Raymond added: ‘Both girls played well.
Their opponents were very strong; their players get exposed to international competition much more than our players do.
‘It’s a learning experience for us and more international games on a regular basis and I’m sure we will starting winning matches.’ Raymond said the Jersey team have settled in well.
They’ve acclimatised to the hotter conditions and were now ready for the competition.
Raymond added: ‘It’s a pleasure to take away such a talented and responsible team and an event that should be encouraged for both cultural and sporting reasons.’ The sailors were still on the water at lunch time today while the athletes begin their disciplines tomorrow.
Tonight the Jersey party will attend the opening ceremony.
Education, Sport and Culture officials Senator Mike Vibert and Derek de la Haye arrived at the venue in the early hours of this morning after a long delay in Athens.
