The two men had both reached the finals of the Danny Strange Pro-Am, and the Jersey Open, but it was Brewer who romped to a 4-2 victory in the Pro-Am and walked away from the table £1,800 better off.
The Open final was much closer, and the players were neck-and-neck for the first eight frames.
But Lambert broke in the ninth and, in the words of event organiser Howard Miller, ‘smashed Keith all over the place’ with both white and black balls going in in the process.
So they re-racked – and Lambert went for it, potting everything, to the delight of the large crowd which included a sizeable French contingent.
‘It was pretty exciting!’ Miller said.
Speaking this morning, Miller said: ‘This has been the best festival we’ve had in the 21 years.
It’s been tremendously successful, the Ommaroo staff have been fantastic and we have already confirmed for the 22nd Festival, next year.’ ‘There were 192 visiting players, plus the locals, it’s been excellent.’ For Miller, the best moments of the week came in the quarter-final of the Pro-Am between last year’s World Champion Yannick Beaufils and 16-year-old Scot Jason Shaw.
‘Jason’s only 16, but he hammered Yannick 5-1.
It was a fantastic match to watch.’
