A CONDOR Liberation sailing from Cherbourg to Jersey turned back to the French port due to a “technical issue”.

Marine traffic data showed the boat approaching the Island on Sunday, stopping around 1pm off the west coast before heading back to Cherbourg, where it arrived just after 5pm.

Writing on social media, passengers onboard said Condor made an announcement that this was due to a “mechanical issue”.

In a sailing update posted on its website, the ferry firm confirmed that due to a “technical issue”, it had “regrettably been necessary to cancel our HSC service between Cherbourg and the Channel Islands on Sunday 7 January”.

Condor Ferries have been approached for comment.
