COFFEE and pizza will be the main items on the menu at a new venue that has opened on the site of a former lifeboat station in St Aubin.
The Loft has recently opened its doors at La Neuve Route in a building that was most recently home to Lovejoy Antiques, on a site previously occupied by a lifeboat crew in the early 19th century, when the sea wall was closer to the heart of the village.
Owner Dave Double, who formerly worked for a European hotel chain, spent 18 months converting the site with business partner Rob Morton, and eventually plans to employ 14 staff at the Loft.
The venue is currently trading as a café, closing at 5pm daily, but during August will offer pizzas, with opening hours extending into the evening and a licence to serve alcohol to diners.
