Sandpiper CI, the Channel Island’s largest retailer, is replacing all of its 16 Foodhall mini-supermarkets in Jersey, as well as six similar outlets in Guernsey, with the UK brand.
Sandpiper chief executive Tony O’Neill said that the remaining Foodhalls would be converted within the next four months.
‘Five Oaks is the next one up and that will be on the 26/27 June. It will take about three weeks to make the changes,’ he said.
‘After that we will be opening one up every other week until the end of September in Jersey. Once we have finished with the Jersey stores we will move on to Guernsey. ‘
He added: ‘Morrisons have their own brand products which will be significantly cheaper than the Waitrose products they will be replacing in our stores.
‘With those it will be more than a five per cent price cut. I think customers will appreciate a difference in the product range, in particular with fresh produce and groceries.’
Mr O’Neill said that special offers would be available at each of the store launches.
‘A leaflet has been distributed around the parish with offers on Jersey Royals and asparagus for the St Ouen opening,’ he said.
‘When it comes to Five Oaks we will be offering deals on fuel to try to attract customers in.’
