TWO Scout leaders have been praised after tackling a fire they spotted outside a property in St Ouen.
The pair alerted the property owners, helped to evacuate the family and extinguished the fire after spotting smoke and flames outside the home.
The blaze had started in a bin and the heat had already cracked a ground-floor window.
The Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘Without the quick actions of the two Scout leaders the fire could have quickly escalated.’
