The man is accused of assaulting and arguing with the woman in Stopford Road before chasing her up the street against the flow of traffic towards Oxford Road.
During the incident, it is believed that another woman got involved before both women ran into flats on Stopford Road. The man followed and was banging on the door, the States police say.
All three people are known to each other and the woman who was assaulted did not require hospital treatment, according to a press statement by the force.
The man, who has also been charged with breaching a restraining order, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this week.
