Steve in ‘ski Mount Everest’ challenge for MS patients

Steve Martin, a senior physiotherapist at the Jersey Cheshire Home, is hoping to complete the Monster Ski challenge in Chamonix, France, to raise funds for the charity, which provides support to sufferers of multiple sclerosis and conducts research.

The 44-year-old, who lives at Havre des Pas, said that he was prompted to sign up for the event because he comes into contact with a lot of sufferers during his work, and because a close family friend was diagnosed with MS many years ago.

The challenge, which will involve one day’s skiing or snowboarding at Courmayeur on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, will see participants skiing for about seven hours a day – a total of 90,000 vertical feet over three days.

Anyone who would like to sponsor Steve should go to his fundraising page here.
