CJ McCollum hits a high as Portland take out the Bulls

CJ McCollum scored a career-high 50 points and set a franchise record of 28 in the first quarter of the Portland Trail Blazers’ 124-108 win over the Chicago Bulls.

The Bulls’ skid extended to five in a loss that saw them trail their hosts, who have won four in a row, by up to 29.

Despite the huge effort, McCollum fell nine short of Portland’s game record held by Damian Lillard who hit the mark in April 2017.

The Cleveland Cavaliers recovered from a bruising 125-114 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday to edge the Miami Heat 91-89.

LeBron James scored 24 points as the Cavs played their first game without five-time All-Star Kevin Love, who broke his hand in the Detroit clash.

In Boston, the Celtics smashed the New York Knicks 103-73, helped by Marcus Morris who scored 21 points and Jayson Tatum who netted 15.

The Brooklyn Nets pleased a home crowd with a 116-108 win over the Philadelphia 76ers – their first victory in four games.

The Phoenix Suns ended a five-game skid by beating the Dallas Mavericks 102-88, thanks in part to newcomer Josh Jackson hitting 21 points and TJ Warren scoring 20.

The Orlando Magic dominated the LA Lakers 127-105, the Indiana Pacers beat the Memphis Grizzlies 105-101 and the Charlotte Hornets claimed a 123-110 success over the Atlanta Hawks.
