Peter Crouch nails Harry Redknapp’s career with incredible I’m a Celeb tweet

Harry Redknapp has managed a lot of football teams and signed a lot of footballers, so there are plenty of people ready to take the mickey now he’s confirmed to appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

One of 10 contestants announced by the jungle-themed show, the 71-year-old – who has managed clubs such as Tottenham, West Ham and Portsmouth – is famous in the football world for signing certain players multiple times.

With that in mind, a couple of former employees were keen to rule themselves out of being signed once again by their ex-gaffer now that he’s made the temporary move to Australia.

The recently retired Rafael van der Vaart, who played for Spurs under Redknapp, immediately joked about regretting his sudden availability.

And he wasn’t the only one.

Peter Crouch was signed on three separate occasions by Redknapp during his playing career, and ruled himself out in no uncertain terms.

Southampton are another club Redknapp has worked at during his lengthy career.

And a tweet from the Saints’ official account warned ITV, which produces I’m A Celeb, to be careful about Redknapp leaving the programme to move to the BBC’s prime-time show Strictly Come Dancing, a reference to his infamous departure from the club in 2005.

Will Redknapp prove to be ITV’s star signing this year?
