England have India on the rack in the second Specsavers Test at Lord’s as rain brought an early lunch on day four.
After England declared on 396 for seven, James Andersoon took two wickets to reduce the tourists to 17 for two in their second innings – still 272 runs behind – when the inclement weather returned half an hour before the scheduled break.
Anderson had Murali Vijay caught behind for a duck, becoming the first man to take a century of Test wickets at the home of cricket.
England had earlier extended their overnight lead to 289 after declaring immediately after Sam Curran was dismissed for 40.
Curran fell 10 short of a second successive Test fifty when he got a thick edge down to third man as he aimed a big hit at the start of a new spell from Hardik Pandya.
England’s seventh-wicket stand therefore ended on 76, with Chris Woakes, who went past 1,000 Test runs, remaining unbeaten on 137 when Joe Root called him in.
