LUCY O’SULLIVAN is targeting another World Archery Championship podium appearance for Great Britain after getting the nod to compete in Mexico City next month.

Island archer Lucy O'Sullivan will represent Great Britain at the 2017 World Archery Championships in Mexico City

The former Beaulieu student had her long-anticipated selection confirmed yesterday, having consistently done more than enough at premier events across the globe to warrant a trip to Central America from 16-22 October.

O’Sullivan’s international recognition comes after a medal-winning performance at a World Cup event in Berlin, and she is also set to shoot for UK honours at the National Series finals having proved her worth throughout the summer.

‘I’ve got three opportunities to win a medal, in the individual, mixed team and [women’s] team events, and obviously three medals would be the dream,' said the 2015 Island Games gold medallist.

'But realistically I’d be happy with any medal because we’re up against people who weren’t in Berlin but are incredible. The World’s is a huge deal ... everyone goes.’

O’Sullivan added: ‘We have a really good team for Mexico and hopefully we will have the same sort of atmosphere as Berlin. If I can have fun and enjoy it then I’m going to shoot better.’
