Team Jets’ promotion hopes rely on July restart

The Island club were due to attend England Netball’s postponed national play-offs in April to fight for one of three spots in Premier League 3. The event has been rescheduled for 8-9 August but will only take place if players are able to return to the court for training before 19 July, as the governing body has set a minimum preparation period of three weeks.

If training cannot resume before 19 July no further netball will be played, with promotion to the national pyramid scrapped.

Jets, who suffered relegation from PL 3 in 2019, played all 16 of their league fixtures on the mainland this season as regional regulations do not force clubs to travel across the Channel for away days. Linda Andrews’ squad will only be guaranteed home matches in 2020/21 if their status as a Premier League club is regained – an opportunity made possible by regional champions Aquarians’ decision not to take their place at the play-offs.
