An Island first!

An Island first!

The Caesareans left London with a 2-1 quarter-final triumph to their name on Sunday, with goals from Sam Dunstan and Tom Millar helping the Island side into the last-four of the national second-tier competition for the first time.

They will welcome Repton to Les Quennevais on Sunday 31 March, following the Derbyshire club’s 6-2 thumping of Sheffield University Bankers.

Jersey captain Millar said: ‘We’ve got a couple of senior guys who might have played back in the day when Jersey entered the Hockey Association Cup, but in the 12 or 13 years I’ve been playing the next game, the semi-final, will be the biggest game that I’ve ever been a part of.

‘It was a really gutsy performance [yesterday] having gone 2-0 up so early. In the second half we dug deep and defended well. All the guys across the back line made some crucial tackles in the final few minutes and everyone is really pleased with the way we played.’
