The Rozel Rovers duo – aged just 16 and 17 respectively – were heavily involved in helping their side claim a Jersey Women’s League quadruple in 2020/21 and have been rewarded with a healthy number of votes from their rival clubs. They feature in the top three alongside St Lawrence midfielder Jess De Castro.
The JFA Combination Premiership player of the year shortlist also features first-time nominees in the shape of St Clement’s Connor Maher and St Paul’s midfielder Luca Margaroli. The pair join St Ouen forward Jake Prince – also nominated in 2020 – on a three-strong list for the men’s title.
Sammy Sutcliffe (St Paul’s) and Harvey Butler (Jersey Wanderers) are up against Noah Trench for the Junior Player of the Year accolade, with the latter holding the flag for St Clement as they look to make it three U18 awards in a row.
St Ouen Reserves’ Max Simon is on the shortlist for Championship player of the year for the second consecutive season, alongside First Tower’s Stephen Byrne and Jersey Wanderers junior Darryl Mvalo, while Phil Helleur (Trinity), Craig Leitch (St Paul’s) and Jimmy Styles (St Ouen) are the contenders for the over-35 trophy.
The Jersey FA’s annual awards evening, featuring former Dunfermline, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Livingston manager Jim Leishman as a special guest and after-dinner speaker, is due to take place at the Radisson Hotel on Saturday 3 July.
