Page-turner of a cup-tie!

The deadlock in this first-round Colin Welsh Memorial Trophy cup-tie at Springfield was broken in the 70th-minute when the ball fell to Page on the edge of the box. Page, who is also signed for Ormer FC (Hampshire) but now living in Jersey, produced an unstoppable shot to give the easterners the lead.

A close first-half between two evenly-matched teams had produced no clear cut chances.

After Page’s opener, a loose ball outside the Ormer penalty area fell kindly for Grouville’s Tara Marie to double the lead.

However, a strong run down the left wing by Candice Bougourd, Ormer’s player of the match, ended with a low, hard cross into the Grouville six-yard area where Ana Pita steered it into the net.

Despite some late pressure from Ormer, they could not force an equaliser, so Grouville (wearing borrowed St Peter FC shirts) went though to face Jersey’s newly-crowned champions JTC Jersey Wanderers in the semi-final.
