Vandals have driven a car over the pitch in St Peter on two separate occasions in January – the latest incident on Friday evening – leaving damage estimated to be in the region of £2,000.

Wanderers are offering a reward to anyone who helps lead them to a conviction, and Islanders with any information are being asked to telephone the States police, on 612612, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Wanderers vice-president Bob Lawrence said: ‘Everyone at the club is upset with what has happened and it’s hard to understand why anyone would want to drive onto the pitch and cause damage.

‘It’s soul-destroying, we’ve worked really hard to get a pitch with a really good playing surface and it’s now been ruined.'
