Campbell has fingers crossed for Inter League repeat

As the JFC prepare to welcome Kent County in round two, the centre-half is one of just three remaining squad members from the side that represented England at the 2013 Uefa Regions Cup in San Marino – the reward for a 2-1 extra-time victory over the Isle of Man in the 2012 Inter League final.

The Regions Cup campaign, which also featured Jack Cannon and Craig Russell, ended in disappointment as the Islanders – level on points and with a better goal difference – failed to reach the finals on head-to-head record, but for Campbell the experience remains a career highlight.

‘That’s the highest level I’ve ever played at, so to play at that level again would obviously be really good,’ said the 28-year-old.

‘I enjoyed going over to San Marino, and I don’t see why we can’t win it [the Inter League Cup] again. We have a few young players coming through and the squad is good – I don’t see why we can’t compete.’
