New league for U21s?

Charlie Browne believes his latest proposal will offer a smoother transition between junior and senior squads, as battles to keep players in the game continue.

Initial feedback is believed to have been positive, though concerns regarding fixture pile-ups, and the effect the league may have on reserve-teams, could yet be raised.

‘We’ve got to try and keep the junior players that we’ve got and hopefully this will encourage them to go forward naturally,’ said Browne.

‘I’ll be setting up an open meeting in January for clubs with junior teams to discuss it, and I’m sure they’ll warm to it. It will be for their benefit.’
