And an additional place has gone to all-rounder Nick Greenwood – a new addition to the Island squad this summer who has previously been on Lancashire’s books.

Greenwood (19) impressed on his Jersey debut in matches away to Netherlands A and he then scored a half-century in Jersey’s 50-over inter-insular victory away to Guernsey.

Jersey coach Neil MacRae said: ‘We’ve 15 players and it is going to be hard to squeeze everyone in.

‘There are challenges ahead and we’re looking forward to them. We’re expecting good wickets to bat on with the heat and we hope there will be some turn in them for our spinners.

‘We’ve an exciting young side and we’re hoping to qualify for the World Cup, we’ve a month to go to work on some fine tuning and looking to increase our fitness levels further.

‘It’s an exciting time for Jersey cricket, for the officials and the players.’

The squad was named a day after Jersey returned from winning four T20 matches away to Sussex 2nds at Sussex’s Blackstone ground.
