Guthrie eager to wear blue and gold

The five-time Superleague champions have secured the signature of arguably the best mid-court player in world netball for 2019, following the 28-year-old’s departure from Suncorp Super Netball finalists Giants earlier this month.

Guthrie returns to England having spent the last four years in New Zealand and Australia, and brings back a wealth of international know-how as she eyes her fourth league title in the UK’s premier competition.

‘I’m excited to be back in the blue and gold,’ said the former Le Rocquier student, who left Jersey for Bath aged 16.

‘It will be nice to go back to the place where my career began, and somewhere that’s familiar after being away for so long.

‘When I left Bath I was a young athlete with little experience in the netball world. I’m looking forward to the 2019 campaign with so much more experience under my belt.’

Guthrie will continue to promote her own coaching academy, Legacy Netball, alongside her efforts with Team Bath, which will likely to prove crucial ahead of a home World Cup in Liverpool next July.

‘It’s going to be an exciting year for netball in the UK and it’s a cool feeling knowing I’m going to be a part of it,’ she added.

‘I’ve got the Quad Series with England first [in New Zealand], and then pre-season with Team Bath, which I’m really excited for.’
