Matt Banahan and his Gloucester Rugby colleagues are scheduled to train at Stade Santander tomorrow as part of a pre-season tour to the Island, and will take on the Reds’ professional squad in a contested session which will be open to the public.
Fans will be offered the chance to meet players from the Premiership club, and Jersey’s new signings, during a BBQ after 7 pm.
Biljon, who watched his side peform well in a pre-season defeat against Premiership side Harlequins on Saturday, said: ‘It’s a great opportunity for us which will definitely help us get ready for the Championship campaign.
‘It may give us an opportunity to pick up some of what they’re doing and maybe we can learn from it and introduce new things here.
‘At the same time it’s a good chance to give ourselves some good preparation and our forwards will be able to scrum against different opposition. We’re not like UK teams where they have opportunities to train against other teams.’
The clubhouse at St Peter will open tomorrow at 4.30 pm, with the players taking to the field from 5.30-7 pm. BBQ tickets [£10] can be booked by emailing sean.dunne@jerseyreds.je.
