Jones shines in Severn Stars event

Severn Stars is one of the Superleague franchises and Jones has worked hard to earn her place on their player pathway.

She took part in the first Severn Stars Supernova U17 tournament recently, with all five Nova academies, from Somerset, South Staffordshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Worcestershire. She played for Gloucestershire, who won all of their games to secure the winners’ medals.

The tournament is designed to form the basis of selection for the Severn Stars U17 squad for 2018/19, with a number of independent selectors assessing each game. Jones was one of 19 girls from the tournament selected to trial for the squad, along with eight of the current U19s who are still eligible for U17s.

Said Jersey netball development officer Chrissie Bannerman: ‘We are all very proud of Lily and how hard she has worked and all she has achieved this season. She has been a key member of the U16 Team Jets squad and is a fantastic role model for the other girls.’
