CI Sports Awards nominations announced
JERSEY have two contenders in the four-strong short-list for the Betway CI Sports Awards at the end of January.
Great Britain archer Lucy O’Sullivan and international BMX star Alex Coleborn will be up against Alderney-born boxer Billy Le Poullain and Great Britain track athlete Cameron Chalmers, from Guernsey. The winner, from a public vote, will be announced live on ITV Channel Television during two special programmes on Thursday 25 January, at Beau Séjour, Guernsey.
The evening will again be a celebration of sport throughout the Islands, with the popular PraxisIFM Rising Star Award set to be contested between Cameron Pirouet (a rifle marksman) and rally star Ed Fossey, alongside Sarnians Alistair Chalmers (track athlete) and Seb Priaulx (motor racing).
The Waves Team of the Year features four Jersey sides against one from Guernsey: Guernsey Raiders Ladies (rugby); Jersey Cricket; Jersey Reds (rugby); Victoria College Prep Football and Jersey Rowing Club.
The Source Recruitment Coach of the Year Award 2017 will be awarded to an exceptional CI coach from a strong shortlist including: Guernsey Ladies Rugby coach Chris Griffiths; Jersey special gymnastics coach Yana Vibert; Guernsey’s Rovers Football Coach Jez Robin and Guernsey Boxing Coach Ben Duff.
Also to be awarded on the night will be the Michael Lucas Sporting Hero Award, and the Judges Award for Achievement.
