Cricket: Watkins one of three to join Walkovers

Sport | Published:

WALKOVERS-SCF have won their battle to remain in the Weekend Premier League following the recruitment of three new players.

Fears that the club would not have sufficient numbers to play this season have been allayed, with Ian Crocker, Abishek Hongekar and Island player Nat Watkins all signing up for the 2017 campaign.

Hongekar will appear for Walkovers-SCF's first-team only to allow him to continue playing in Division I with Airtel Vodafone Royals.

Club president Hansie Vosser said: 'Obviously we're delighted to be continuing, we weren't sure for several weeks but all the paperwork for the three new players is done, so we're ready to go.

'Nat is a really big signing for us; he is a top player with both bat and ball and Ian will also help strengthen our batting further. Abi is a useful all-rounder too, who wants to play at a higher level while remaining with his club in Division I.'
