Two decades of special service

Sport | Published:

JERSEY Special Gymnastics Club founder John Grady will be retiring from his role as head coach today, after over two decades of service.

Grady gave up his position as head teacher at Mont à l'Abbé School to start the Mont à l'Abbé Gymnastics Club, as it was then known, in 1991.

Since its inauguration the club has gone from strength to strength, had members representing Great Britain and can even boast a six-time senior British Open champion.

The 68-year-old, who was made an MBE for voluntary services to disabled people in Jersey in 2009, took his final training session last night and will be head coach for the last time today at the annual club competition.
